Hire a licensed engineer.Or be hired as one.

FindPE matches project owners with NCEES-verified Licensed Professionals — Professional Engineers (PE), Structural Engineers (SE), and Professional Surveyors (PS) — in the state where the work happens. Bids arrive as milestone plans, and funds sit with Escrow.com until each milestone is certified.

01

I need an engineer

Describe the scope, get matched to Licensed Professionals in your state, and release payment milestone by milestone.

02

I'm a licensed PE, SE, or Surveyor

Get RFQs filtered to your discipline, expertise, and licensed states - and start work knowing the milestones are funded.

Directory listings show masked last names - a PE's contact details unlock only inside a project.

  • 01

    Credentials verified

Licenses are checked against state boards and NCEES records before a professional can bid on regulated work.

  • 02

    Eligibility first

Hard filters run before scoring: active license in the project state, discipline fit. Unqualified bids never reach your desk.

  • 03

    Escrow.com, end to end

Funds are deposited at award and released only when a milestone is certified - or when the review window lapses.

  • 04

    Retention & warranty

5% retention on licensed projects over $30k, paid out 90 days past completion unless a defect is formally reported.

01One account, two directions

Built for the client buying the work, and the professional delivering it.

A professional account can also be a client account. The same login posts a project, bids on one, and keeps every credential, document and payment in one place.

CLIENTS

Turn “we need an engineer” into a competitive, compliant procurement.

  • A guided RFQ wizard: service category, NCEES discipline, expertise tags, project state, funding context, and up to three key milestones.
  • Structured bids you can actually compare - milestone plans with required deliverables and acceptance criteria, assumptions, and review windows.
  • An RFI board where bidders ask questions (optionally blind); your answers publish to every bidder at once and freeze at award.
  • Document control built in: revision history, check-out locks, download audit log, and one-click ZIP export.

PROFESSIONALS

Your license becomes a pipeline.

  • RFQs matched to your discipline, expertise tags and verified state licenses - with the score explained, not hidden.
  • Every award is funded in escrow before work starts, and released as milestones are certified.
  • Portfolio entries tagged by practice area, so sector-relevant RFQs score you higher.
  • Credentials in one place: multi-state records, expiry warnings, and automatic bid withdrawal if a license lapses.

02The engagement, end to end

From a described scope to a certified milestone.

Six steps, in order, with nothing hidden between them. Both sides work from the same record on one project page.

How an engagement runs, step by step
  1. 01

    Scope

The RFQ wizard captures category, discipline, expertise tags, project state and milestones.

  2. 02

    Match

Eligibility first - active license in the project state - then weighted scoring, explained.

  3. 03

    Bids

Structured proposals: price, milestone plan with deliverables, assumptions, review window.

  4. 04

    Award

A 48-hour window. A lapse reopens the project to the runner-ups.

  5. 05

    Fund

Funded into escrow with Escrow.com at kickoff, before work starts.

  6. 06

    Certify

Approve a milestone and it releases - or the review window releases it for you.

03The scope drives the match

Describe the work in engineering terms. Get engineers who can legally do it.

FindPE is organised around the NCEES taxonomy - not keyword tags. Clients describe disciplines, specialties, subspecialties and practice areas; the engine turns that into eligibility filters and a score you can audit.

  • 258 scope tags across 25 regulated categories and 7 advisory categories, mapped to NCEES disciplines, specialties, subspecialties and practice areas.
  • Eligibility before ranking. An active license in the project state and discipline fit are hard filters - unqualified professionals never enter your match list, and never bid.
  • Scores you can read. Every match lists the signals behind it - discipline, expertise, practice area, availability, response time and rating - so you can see why someone surfaced.
  • Statutory safeguards. Where a scope legally demands a Structural Engineer, the requirement is set by state rule before the RFQ ever goes live.

Sector rule triggers SE for this scope in CA, so the RFQ requires a Structural Engineer credential before it publishes. In states without the rule, the requirement resolves to PE.

04The money path

Funds sit with Escrow.com. They move when work is certified — not before.

No chasing invoices on one side, no paying for unverified work on the other - the rules are contractual and visible on the project page.

Escrow.com · milestone ledger

  • Funded before work starts

The award is deposited with Escrow.com at kickoff. A disputed milestone freezes in place until it is resolved.

  • Released on certification

Approve a milestone and it releases. Contractual review windows — 45 days by default — auto-release approved work if a client goes silent.

  • Hourly, with a cap you set

Weekly time sheets, an 80% cap warning, a hard pause at 100%, and a mandatory True-Up final milestone that reconciles actuals at closeout.

  • Public projects follow procurement rules

Public-sector engagement is fixed fee with a formal Certification of Acceptance instead of escrow — the same audit trail, different instrument.

05Advanced technical services

Not every engagement needs a seal. Plenty need an engineer.

Beyond regulated, stamp-required work sits a wide field of advisory and consulting engagements - Advanced Technical Services. No seal is required, but engineering judgement is the product. 70+ advisory tags, organised across seven categories.

Your verified license travels into this work. The NCEES badge, the credential record and the reputation you build on regulated projects follow you - clients know they are hiring a licensed professional even where the law does not require one.

06For licensed professionals

Four ways engagements reach you.

Matching brings the work; the rest is how you shape it - invite-only projects, subcontracting your own overflow, and expedited scopes when you want them.

01 · MATCHED RFQS

Eligibility ran before you ever saw it.

Every match is filtered to credentials that are verified, active and in good standing for the project state - then scored, with the signals shown. You compete on fit, not on who raced to refresh a page.

Paid tiers can be invited straight into private projects
Credential tiers

02 · FASTTRACK

Take the scopes with a clock on them.

Opt in and licensed scopes with a deadline inside 72 hours and a budget of $500+ come to you flagged. Opt out whenever you want - eligibility is recomputed from your settings.

03 · SUBCONTRACTS

More scope than you can carry? Post it.

Professionals can post their own projects to bring in support from outside their discipline - same wizard, same escrow, same milestone certification.

07Compliance

Regulated work stays regulated here.

Responsible charge, licence gating by state, statutory Structural Engineer triggers and automatic withdrawal if a credential lapses — and a standing position against seal-lending and plan-stamping.

Credentials are the source of truth for every bid and match decision.

08The directory

Verified professionals, already on the platform.

Every listing is a credential record: state-board validation, NCEES verification, and disciplines resolved from the credentials themselves.

Full FAQ
Does FindPE offer plan stamping or seal-lending?
No. FindPE will not match or facilitate an engagement where a PE is asked to seal documents they did not prepare or directly supervise. Regulated work on the platform always runs with a qualified engineer in responsible charge, and accounts that attempt seal-lending are removed and reported to the appropriate state licensing board.
How do I know a professional is actually licensed?
Credentials are verified against state board lookups and NCEES records before a professional can bid on regulated work, and the credential record - not a self-declared field - is the source of truth for every bid and match decision. On regulated work, only professionals verified in the project's state can bid, and if a credential lapses, affected bids are withdrawn automatically with the reason logged.
What happens if the client goes silent on a milestone?
Milestone review windows are contractual - 45 days by default. If a client does not respond within the window, approved work auto-releases. On licensed projects over $30,000, 5% retention is held for 90 days past completion and then pays out automatically unless a defect is formally reported.
Is posting a project free?
Yes. Describing your scope, receiving structured bids, and asking clarifying questions cost nothing. Fees apply when you hire a professional, and the award is funded into Escrow.com milestone escrow before work begins.
Can I hire for work that does not need a PE stamp?
Yes - Advanced Technical Services cover non-regulated consulting and advisory engagements where no seal is required but engineering judgement is the product: AI and ML consulting, energy audits and decarbonisation, facility management, analysis and simulation, training and technical writing, and more, across seven advisory categories and 70+ advisory tags. The same verification and the same escrow protection apply.
Do you support projects outside the United States?
FindPE is a US-only service. Licensing requirements, state board rules and responsible-charge obligations are the reason: matching, bid eligibility and statutory triggers are all resolved against the state where the work happens.

Start on whichever side you're on.

Posting a project costs nothing, bids arrive as milestone plans, and the award is funded in escrow before work begins. Professionals: your credentials travel with you - into regulated work and advisory work alike.
